Building a Future of Hope Campaign
Although the active phase of the Building a Future of Hope Campaign ended this past June, the good work of the Campaign continues. Be sure to check this section of the Bulletin weekly for information on how your stewardship is making a difference in our community and beyond. This week’s spotlight is on Community Catholic Center.

“Charity may be a short word, but with its tremendous meaning of pure love, it sums up man’s entire relation to God and to his neighbor.” – St. Aelred of Rievaulx

In addition to Community Catholic, St. Vincent de Paul and Hand in Hand Ministries, proceeds from the St. Agnes Building a Future of Hope Campaign will benefit a Sister Parish. Because the relationship with our Sister Parish will extend beyond the end of the Campaign, the BFOH Selection Committee is following a deliberate and thorough process to ensure the selected Parish is a good fit with St. Agnes. Please keep the BFOH Selection Committee in your prayers as they deliberate and consider this important choice. For more information on the Building a Future of Hope Campaign or Community Catholic Center, you can contact BFOH Follow-Up Leaders, John Schmidt, Greg Metzger or Melissa Metzger.

There are many ways to share your gifts with the St. Agnes family. Take a few moments to discover all the ways to get involved, help others, and meet wonderful people in the process.

Safe Environment Training

The Archdiocese of Louisville is committed to ensuring that children and youth who worship, study, or participate in church sponsored activities can do so in the safest and most secure setting possible. In an effort to fulfill this commitment, all employees or volunteers who have regular contact with children or youth are required to participate in one of the Safe Environment Training Workshops.

The Safe Environment Program will be offered through a partnership with the Center for Women and Families. These workshops will cover the following topics:

  • Identifying signs of child sexual abuse
  • Understanding the dynamics of child sexual abuse including how children are groomed and how they may attempt to reveal their experience
  • How to take action in response to child sexual abuse including obligation to report and caring for the abused child
  • Becoming familiar with the new Archdiocesan policies and Code of Conduct regarding work with children

Each workshop will last 2 ½ hours. Participants will receive a copy of the new Sexual Abuse Policies and a resource manual. NO REGISTRATION IS NECESSARY. Sign-in sheets will be available at the workshops.  There is a form in the back of the booklet that should be filled out by each participant and turned in to the Parish Office to be recorded.

As required by the Archdiocese, all “volunteers” who have regular contact with student/athletes MUST ATTEND ONE of these workshops. Workshop dates and times are available at www.loucsaa.org and www.archlou.org

Additionally, a Youth Leader Request is required to be filled out and submitted for a background check. The required form, which follows this information, can be downloaded from this website, completed, and turned into the Parish Office.
