Last weekend the Parish Center dining area was completely set up and taken down four different times. Following a typical week of school, venues included the Father-Daughter Dance, the Red Cross Blood Drive, and the Sunday Evening for Married Couples (“Time Out for Marriage.”) Thanks to all who channeled so much time and energy to make each of these occasions such engaging and powerful events.
Also, thanks to Jim Luckett and the Adult Faith Formation Committee; Saturday we had our Lenten Day of Reflection and they did a great job organizing, preparing, and implementing. I always say it’s easy to get up and tell a few stories and lead prayer, but the countless clock hours of dedication to pull something off like this depends on many generous people, and this merits our admiration and sincere gratitude!
Please notice the blurb in this bulletin on our St. Agnes Homebound Ministry Team workshop for Saturday, March 13, 2010. As the Church has changed — so must our ministerial responses to one another’s needs. Not long ago we had three priests and a deacon here at St. Agnes to visit the sick and bring a friendly connection to our faith community. Today, in order to meet the needs of assisting those homebound (visiting, listening, sharing Holy Communion), many folks are needed to respond. Please call the Parish House if you can join us! All current Eucharistic ministers are asked to attend as well, that we might learn from one another. We need YOU!
Last Sunday I was privileged to join with Archbishop Kurtz and those from other Louisville parishes journeying together to full communion with the Catholic Church at Eastertime. Here at St. Agnes I am proud to say we have five catechumens (those discerning the Sacraments of Initiation of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist) whom we now call “the Elect,” and seven candidates (those discerning full communion in our faith community). What a proud and inspiring time it was! Next week we will begin the Scrutinies at Sunday liturgy, as these fine people verbalize their readiness to listen to God’s call.
God bless you as these Lenten days unfold!
